The Cat Made Me Do It
by Shaely
My humans are very nice
people, however they can become very angry with me when I try and play
with the cranky old cat that I have to share my home with. They don't
seem to yell at the cat for growling at me, or taking a swipe at me when
I am minding my own business. However, let me just try and discipline the
cat, and they quickly reprimand me and tell me to leave the cat alone.
Well one can only take so much of always being seen as the bad guy.
One day when they locked
me in away from the cat, it upset me, because I knew the cat was up to
no good in the kitchen. I had to get my human's attention somehow.
I decided to try my usual attention getting tactic. It usually works!
Placing my chin on my mistress's knee, I looked up at her with my sad eyes
-- she can't possibly resist -- I was wrong. I had to try something
else.
I started pawing at the
floor -- in hope they would look over towards the french door that led
to the kitchen. Somehow my claw tore a little hole in the vinyl.
Hmm... I wondered what could be beneath the vinyl, so I used my teeth to
try and find out. I was right! It got my human's attention.
Only they just scolded me and sent me to my blanket.
My blanket meant bed
time, and I was not tired! So, I decided to change my blanket's looks
by chewing little holes in it. It now looks like a snowflake when
you open it up. Unfortunately my mistress's bra was near my blanket and
I accidentally chewed it too. Well, this was fun while it lasted, and I
still wasn't tired. So, I tried to get comfortable on the armchair.
I wondered why they called it an armchair. So, I decided to find
out if there was a human arm under the upholstery. I was wrong --
only wood and springs. I knew my humans would not appreciate the
damage to the chair so I had to try and hide it. I grabbed hold of
it and tugged at it until I was able to move it to the other side of the
room. Now all I had to do was cover it up and hide the evidence.
Quite Mcguyver like, if I do say so myself, I pulled the mattress off the
bed, hoping to land it on the chair -- but, it missed the chair, and I
couldn't get it back up. After moving things around, I was finally
tired, so I crawled up on the mattress and went to sleep.
The time span from when
I was locked in away from the cat and fell asleep was about 24 minutes.
For some strange reason my humans felt a need to check on me. They
were not impressed to say the least. I didn't understand why I was
being blamed again. I was only trying to get my humans to notice
that the cat was up to no good. The cat made me do it!
