Samuel took notice of a bath brush. "That's a big
toothbrush!" he remarked.
04 Nov 97: Samuel wants to be "Cranky-stein" next Halloween (I think he means Frankenstein).
26 Oct 97: Samuel was visiting Yarmouth for the weekend with his mother. They called home and I spoke to Sam on the phone: "Hi Sam; where are you?" I asked. "I'm right here," he answered.
04 Oct 97: Samuel decided to watch his Winnie-the-Pooh video. He turned on the VCR and ejected the videocassette that was in it, inserted his cassette, and pressed the play button. The picture was snowy, so he flipped open the VCR's "advanced" control panel, and adjusted the head tracking until the picture was clear.
24 Sep 97: Samuel pointed to my moustache and asked, "That's your stash-mouth?"
13 Sep 97: Samuel and older brother Cameron were downstairs alone while I was getting dressed. They were a little too quiet, so I inquired loudly "What's going on down there?" "We're getting our breakfast," Cameron replied. I dashed down when I heard the microwave oven - they had a bag of microwave popcorn popping.
06 Sep 97: Samuel's older brother Cameron was car-sick. Rather than make a mess in the car, he thoughtfully leaned over and threw-up in Samuel's lap. Entirely unconcerned, Sam asked matter-of-factly, "Got a cloth?"
20 Aug 97: Samuel had a dish towel wrapped around his head like a scarf. "Look!" he said. "I'm a pret-ty girl." Gonna hafta have a talk with that boy ...
13 Aug 97: Samuel was looking at pictures of monster trucks with mud caked on their tires. "Look!" he said. "There's gardens on their wheels!"
29 Jun 97: Samuel and his older brother Cameron were discussing having the little girl next door over for a sleepover. They were arguing about who would sleep with her. "Ellen's sleeping with me!" Cameron said. "No, me!" Sam countered. They grow up so fast ...
20 Jun 97: Samuel told me A.J., the boy next door, took his favorite Buzz Lightyear toy - the one with a button that makes Buzz's arm do a karate chop. "A.J. took my choppin' Buzz." "Never again!" he said.
15 Jun 97: I woke up this morning (Father's Day) to see Samuel standing by the bed, offering me a card. "Happy muffers day," he said.
08 Jun 97: I was on the roof today painting some second-story windows, when I heard a little voice say, "Hi Daddy!" I turned to see Samuel's head poking up over the eavestroughing! He had climbed my ladder to the roof, and with only one hand! His other hand was clutching his Buzz and Woody toys. I shouted for his mother and held onto him 'til she came up the ladder to retrieve him. She carried him down to safety, scolding him all the way, while he explained, "See Daddy!"
30 Mar 97: Samuel was looking through a Christmas catalog, when he pointed to a picture of Michael Jordan (the basketball player) and shouted excitedly, "Bugs Bunny!!" He does kind of have big ears.
27 Mar 97: Samuel was busily munching on something, and came up to me and said, "More!" I didn't know what he was eating, so I said, "More what, Sam?" He replied, "More, please."
18 Mar 97: Samuel and I were flying paper airplanes last night. Tonight, he came over to the table while I was reading the newspaper, picked up my paper and threw it on the floor, then looked at me and said: "airplane."
