Step 1 in our Grand Garb Project: The book day! A group of us spent many hours one afternoon pouring over hundreds of books on 1400-1600 costuming, art, embroidery, etc -- anything that would help us decide just what to do for the Project. What is the Grand Garb Project? you ask. Well, it's a group of us taking a year-long (at least) series of classes on everything to do with this particular period of costuming. We start from the inside with chemises and work through all the layers to the final accessories, headgear, and shoes! It's pretty ambitious, but we're having fun.
