Jenny Stewart is a second generation leatherworker who strives to combine sturdiness and practicality with beauty and ingenuity in a range of leather goods and gifts. |

Each side of her
work - repairs and creations -
combines these, though the emphasis varies. Her repairs and alterations to
leather goods are, of necessity, practical and sturdy in nature, yet with an
eye to maintaining the good looks of the piece. |

Jenny also makes flowers and leaves for jewellery out of leather. These use the same principals and techniques as have been used for centuries in leather carving and embossing. Pins, earrings,
corsages, garlands and decorative flowers are dyed with traditional,
alcohol-based dyes, which allow the natural surface of the leather to show,
giving a more life-like quality to the pieces than can be achieved with the
more common acrylic dyes and paints. Fall leaves are individually dyed with a
myriad of colours to best mimic those coloured by Nature. |

Jenny also does custom
work, making whatever you might wish for, and refurbishing of favourite old
things. She is quite at home with out-of-the-ordinary items, and has a leaning
towards historical recreation. She also dabbles in historical costume, and
can at times be seen in costumes ranging from the 800’s to the 1800’s. |

Services which might
be of particular interest to Scottish Country
Dancers range from a simple re-dyeing of dance shoes, to making a
sporran or helping a kilt to fit better. (We all know how wool will shrink if
stored in a dark closet for a long time!) |
