Text: Glace Bay. Leon (Leo) Sweda, 85, of 93 Wallace Road died Saturday April 05, 1986 at the Glace Bay Community Hospital where he was a patient for the past month. Born in Komorwick, Poland, he was the son of the late John and Sophia Sweda. He was employed with the Dominion Coal Company until 1963 when he retired. He was a member of St. John's Parish. He was a member of the Coaltown Band, and served as librarian of the band during that time. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Unmarrried, he was predeceased by sisters Johanna (Rogez) and Angela (Michalik) of Glace Bay and two brothers who resided in Poland. Surviving are nephews George Rogez, Stanley Michalik and Walter Michalik of Glace Bay and nieces Luch Rogez of St. Catherines, Ontario, May Kirpatrick of Dunchurch, Ontario, Angela and Mary Michalik, Martha Ward of Glace Bay and Sophia Jones of New Waterford. The body rested at Curry's Funeral Home, 140 Main Street. The funeral mass took place at St. John Church, New Aberdeen and interment was in St. John Cemetery

Text: Mullins, Ellen Edith, 74, Sydney, formerly of North Sydney, Glace Bay passed away Tuesday June 22, 2004. Born in Staffordshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Herman and Amanda (Flordine) James. She will be sadly missed by her children; Lois; Lynn; Annette (Ted) Michalik; Angela Durnford; Millie; Lisa (Mike)MacMullin; son John 'Sonny' Gertrude; 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a brother Fred James; daughters, Barbara Wadden and Debbie Mullins and a great grandson, Benjamin Wadden. Visitation Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Patten Funeral Home, Union St. Funeral will be held at the Salvation Army Cidatel, with Capt. Jamie Hillier officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay.

Text: John Richard Mullins AUGUST 1929-SEPTEMBER 2005It is with great sadness
that we announce that John Richard Mullins, 76, of 51 Belle St., Glace Bay,
passed away Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex,
surrounded by his loving family.Born in Glace Bay, John was the son of the
late Pyke and Miriam Mullins.He was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church.
John worked in No. 1B and 20 collieriesand was also a coal hauler for the
town of Glace Bay and area.John enjoyed the company of his family and
friends.John will be sadly missed by his children, Lois, Lynn, Annette
(Ted) Michalik, Angie Durnford, Millie Diane, Lisa (Mike) McMullin; son,
John 'Sonny' (Gertie) Mullins; 16 grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren; sisters, Bessie (Walter) Gerard, Millie (Stan)
Mathews, Miriam (Mike) Miclon; brothers, Pious (Nishea), Cecil (Mary), Art
(Carol), Paul (Gloria), Bob (Barbara) Mullins. John was predeceased by his
wife, Edith, daughters, Debbie and Barbara, great grandson, Benjamin, also
a sister, Eva Laura and a brother, Karl. Visitation will take place in
Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 848-7520,
Saturday, Sept. 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 18 from 2-4 and
7-9 p.m. Funeral will be held Monday, Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's
Anglican Church. Burial will talk place in Greenwood Cemetery, GlaceBay.
