home. Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Felix Burke. She was a member of St. Eugene's Church, Dominion, and had operated Porkys Lobster Shop, Dominion. Surviving are sons, Elroy Stanley, Edmonton, Alta.; Kevin Gerard, Robert James, Dominion; six grandchildren; brothers, Stan, Ray, New Waterford; Pius, Halifax; Stan Eksal, Lingan; sisters, Pearl MacIsaac, Lingan; Mabel MacSavaney, Dominion; Hazel Musial, River Ryan. She was predeceased by her husband, George Elroy; sister, Frances (Sis) Kelly; brother, Tony. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, Knights of Columbus prayers 7:30 p.m. tonight both in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral 10 a.m. Friday in St. Eugene's Church, Rev. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial in parish cemetery.

Text: Stanford "Tony" Burke, 64, Lingan, died Wednesday in the New Waterford
Consolidated Hospital. Born in Lingan, he was the son of the late Felix and Henrietta (Langley) Burke. He was a retired coal miner, having worked 30 years in No. 12 Colliery. He was a member of St. Joseph's Parish. Mr. Burke is survived by his wife Eunice; four brothers, Stan, Raymond, New waterford; Pius, Halifax; and Stan Eksal, Lingan and four sisters, Mrs. Mable MacSavaney, Yvonne (Mrs. George MacNeil), Dominion, Mrs. Pearl MacIsaac, Lingan and Hazel(Mrs. Conrad Musial), River Ryan. He was predeased by two sisters, Violet and Frances. The body will be in the V.J. MacGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, tomorrow after 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Text: New Waterford - Mathew Burk, 77, a long time resident of Lingan, passed away at his home Saturday afternoon. He was born in L'Ardoise and was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burke. He resided in Lingan 70 years. He was employed in No 14 Colliery and was transferred to No 12 after its closing. He retired about 5 years ago. His wife, the former Amanda Kelly predeceased him by 17 years. A member of St. Joseph's parish, Lingan, he was very active in parish activities. In his younger days he was associated with many sports and maintained the interest throughout his life. He is survived by four sons, Frank, Jackie, Ignatuis, all of New
Waterford, Clifford in Lingan and one daughter Unice at home. He is also survived by three brothers, Joseph in South Bar and Barney and Walter in Lingan. Remains are reposing at the V.J. MacGillvray Funeral Home, 56 Smith St., New Waterford from where the funeral will take place Tuesday in time for Solemn high mass at 10 a.m., in St. Joseph's Church, Lingan. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Reid, Lawrence William, 72 of 3 MacDonalds Lane, passed away Wednesday May 26, 2004 at the Glace Bay Healthcare Complex. Born in Dominion he was the son of the late George and Charlotte (MacKay) Reid. Lawrence was employed with Canada Post for 35 years in Ontario. then transferring to Sydney and resided in Reserve Mines. Lawrence is survived by two daughters Gwen Reid and Karen Reid of Toronto; his companion Carol Morgan; sisters, Corrine (Effie) Tutty; Murdena (Jackie) Young; sisters in law Mary and Rosemary; three grandchildren, Tara; Katherine and Bethany all of Toronto; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by sister Arlene (Reid) McKinnon; brothers, Sonny; Alvin and Clayton. A special thank you to Rosemay for her kindness and caring. No visitation, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Centrreville Cemetery, Reserve Mines, Sunday May 30, 3004 at 2pm. Rev, Michael Henderson officiating. No flowers, donations may be made to any charity. Arrangements entrusted to Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
