Text: David Coffin SYDNEY David Lawrence Coffin, formerly of 58 Sutherland St., Sydney, passed away at the Glace Bay General Hospital, Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005. For the past eight months he was a resident of Taigh Na Mara care facility. Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late John David and Katie Bell McNally Coffin. He was employed at Sydney Steel as a bricklayer and was a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Crafts International Union, where he served as financial secretary for many years. He retired in 1982 due to ill health after 42 years service. He was a member of St. Theresa's parish, since his marriage in 1948. He was an avid sports fan especially hockey. He played with the Ashby Aces in the late 30s and later with the Sydney Millionaires from 1945-47. In his youth he was a member of the original Rink Rats in the old forum. Dave coached St. Theresa's midget
baseball in the early 50s. He was a veteran of the Second World War, having
served with the 6 Field Regiment 2nd Division R.C.A. He saw action in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a member of Branch 12 Royal Canadian Legion and served on the scholarship and poppy committees. A member of the Sydney Pensioner Club, he enjoyed darts, shuffle board and dancing. He bowled with the seniors club on Tuesdays. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Louise (Cusack); two sons, Frank, Moncton and Larry (Margie), Halifax; two daughters, Jane (Dr. Paul) Hughes, Florida, Rosemary (Shawn Slade), Kanata, Ont.; four granddaughters, Genevieve and Suzanne Hughes, Florida, Shannon and Victoria Slade, Kanata; two grandsons, David Hughes, Texas and Geoffrey Hughes, Florida. He was predeceased by an infant son, David in 1949; three sisters, Gladys Hannah, Michigan, Kathleen Ford, Michigan, Greta, Sydney; three brothers, Charles, Raymond and Vincent of Sydney. Visitation will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel today
(Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion funeral will take place Thursday, 10 a.m. at St. Theresa's Church with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiating. Text: Glace Bay, June 15 - Mrs. Walter Ogley, well-known and respected resident of 131 Eleventh Street, New Aberdeen, died at St. Joseph's Hospital this morning after a lengthy illness. A native of New Waterford Mrs. Ogley was 30 years of age and had lived in Glace Bay for a long time. Well and favorably known in the community she enjoyed the respect of all whom she came in contact and her passing is widely mourned. She is survived by her husband, seven sons; Walter, Thomas, Maxwell, Francis, John, David, Melvin and three daughters, Norma, Kaye and Lena. Other relatives include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John MacDougall, all of New Waterford, five brothers, Angus MacDougall in Ontario, Charles, Joseph, David and Hector in New Waterford and two sisters, Mrs. John Marenick, Sydney and Mrs. William Morrison, New Waterford. The funeral will be held from the family home Friday morning to St. John's Church for Requiem Mass at nine o'clock. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery.

Text: Glace Bay, April 16 - Death of Frank Ogley, well known and highly esteemed resident of New Aberdeen, occurred at the Glace Bay General Hospital this morning where he had been a patient since last Friday. The late Mr. Ogley was 56 years of age and was a native of Yorkshire, England. He came to Cape Breton about 30 years ago and took up residence here. He secured work with the Dominion Coal Company and has been employed by that concern since coming to Glace Bay. During the last 25 years he worked as a mine examiner and at the time
he was taken ill was attached to the staff of No. 1-B colliery. About a week ago he entered the General hospital to undergo an operation for an internal ailment, but failed to respond to treatment and death ensued today. His wife is also a patient at the same institution where she is recovering from the effects of an operation. It is expected she will return to her home on Wednesday. He is survived in addition to his wife, by two sons, John Ogley and Walter Ogley, both of New Aberdeen and two daughters, Hilda, Mrs. Bert McMullen of New Aberdeen, and Lena, Mrs. Maxwell Andrews of Sydney. His father, Thomas Ogley, resided with his son, and eight grandchildren also survive. Another daughter, Mrs. Alex Munroe, predeceased her father about 6 years. The funeral will be held from his late residence, tenth street. New Aberdeen, Thursday afternon, Brief services will be held at the house at 1:45 and from there the the funeral will proceed to St.
Mary's Anglican Church where services will be continued at 2:30. The funeral will be under the direction of Lowden's Funeral Service.
