Text:   CAMPBELL, Francis Joseph - 81, 21 May St., Scotchtown, died February 1, 1996, in the veterans wing of Glace Bay General Hospital, where he had resided for several months. Born in Iona, he was a son of the late John H. and Margaret (MacNeil) Campbell. He was a member of St. Michael's Parish, Scotchtown; veteran of the Second World serving overseas and he worked at one time as a coal miner and operated Campbell's Store in Scotchtown. In his earlier years, he was an avid fisherman. Surviving are son, Jerry, Scotchtown; sisters, Kay Cathcart, New Waterford; Peg Kenney, Boston; three granddaugters; a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Catherine Matlock; brothers, Michael, Hughie. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Michael's Church, Rev. Bill Rankin officiating. Burial in parish cemetery, Rev. Bill Rankin officiating.

Text:   Springhill - Karel (Charlie) Orlik, 67, of 18 Drummond Street, died Friday in All Saints Hospital. Born in Lazy, Czechoslovakia, he was born of the late Rudolph
and Anna Orlik. He served overseas during the Second World War. He was a
member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch 17. He worked about 25 years in coal mining in Springhill. Surviving are his wife, the former Mary Evelyn Wilson; a
son James, Springhill; two daughters, Janis (Mrs. Harold Hodges), Springhill; Ethel, at home; a brother Jerry, Amherst; Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an
infant daughter Elizabeth and a grandson. The body is at A. H. Brown Funeral Home, Springhill, where funeral will Monday at 2 p.m., Rev. Reginald Miller
officiating, assisted by Rev. Alexander Joshua. Burial will be in Hillside cementery, Springhill.

Text:   ORLIK, Marie - 89, formerly of Springhill, died on Thursday, August
12, 2004, in Gables Lodge, Amherst. Born in Springhill, she was a
daughter of the late James and Isobel (Beaton) Wilson. Marie was a
well-loved resident of Gables Lodge, where she will be sadly missed.
She is survived by son, Jim (Margaret), Big Lake; daughters, Janis
(Harold) Hodges and Ethel Orlik, both of Springhill; grandchildren,
David Hodges, Karla Milton, Jimmy Orlik; three great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie; daughter in infancy,
Elizabeth; grandsons, Malcie Hodges and Trevor Orlik; brothers, Jack
and Allister; sisters, Catherine and Ethel. Cremation has taken place
under the direction of MacDiarmid's Funeral Home (447-2930). A
graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 17, at 2 p.m. in
Hillside Cemetery, Springhill with Rev. Elizabeth Davies officiating.

Text:   Mrs. John MacDougall, 77, died at the family residence, 32 Twelfth Street, Saturday morning. Death occurred suddenly and unexpectedly. Mrs. MacDougall was born in Prince Edward Island and came to New Waterford 54 years ago. The former Catherine Gillis she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Gillis of Prince Edward Island. She is survived by her husband, four sons: Dave and Angus, both of Toronto. Charlie and Joseph in New Waterford. There are two daughters, Tena (Mrs. John Marnick) Sydney, and Margaret (Mrs. William Morrison) of Toronto. There are a number of grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her own family. Mrs. MacDougall was a member fo Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish. Funeral was scheduled this (Monday) morning at 11 o'clock with mass of requiem in Mount Carmel followed by burial in the parish cemetery.
   
The funeral of the late Mrs. John MacDougall was held on Monday, June 6 from the family residence on 32-12the Street and was attended by many relatives and
friends. Requiem Mass was celebrated at Mount Carmel Church by Rev. Fr. A.
Daye at 11 a.m. Interment was in Mount Carmel Cemetery with prayers at the
graveside being recited by Rev. Fr. G. Billdeau.
Pallbearers were: John Marnick of Sydney and son-in-law of the decesead. Wilfred MacDougall, Joseph MacDougall, Duncan MacDougall, Hubert Muise Jr., and Charlie Muise. The late Mrs. Mac Dougall passed away unexpectedly at her home on June 4, 1966.
