Mrs. Frances (Cookie) Nearing, 42, 70 Benson Drive, Sydney died at Camp Hill Hospital on Monday, November 26. Born in Sydney she was the daughter of Mrs. Helen (Wojick) Pynski and the late Stanley Pynski. She was employed at the Bank of Nova Scotia, Charlotte Street Branch and was a member of St. Anthony Daniel Church. She is survived by her husband Gregory, one son, Brennan, and five brothers, Stanley, Raymond, Robert and Edward, all of Sydney and Michael,
Arichat, four sisters, Sister Rosaline C.S.M., Antigonish, Florie, Mrs Fred Currie, Helen, Mrs. Greg Couthro, and Raylene MacAskill, all of Sydney. She was predeceased by twin daughters in infancy. The body will rest Tuesday after 7 p.m. at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday 9 a.m.

Text: Gouthro, Helen Ann "Sis" - 51, Sydney, passed away April 18, 2001, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of Helen (Wojick) Tynski, Breton Bay Nursing Home and the late Stanley Tynski. Surviving are husband , Gregory C. Gougthro; daughters, Natalie, Ottawa; Amy, at home; son, Mark, at home; three sisters and four brothers. She was predeceased by brother, Stan; sister, Frances "Cookie" Nearing; two siblings in infancy. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony Daniel Church, Father Leo Boone officiating. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Family flowers only. Donations to Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.

Text: Redmond, James Harold - 81, Pepperell St., Halifax, passed away May
27, 2000, in the VG site, QE II. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the
late James Robert and Ester (Dakin) Redmond. During the Second World
War he served with the Cape Breton Highlanders Reserve as an
instructor. He was employed by Scotia Wholesaler's and was co-owner
with his brother of Argyle Grocery Sydney. He worked many years for
Ben's Limited in Sydney and Halifax, retiring in 1984. He was active
for many years in the Sydney Lion's Club, holding a variety of offices
including District Governor.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Anne (Tynski); son, James
(Sandra), Hilden; daughter, Noreen (Barry) Maier, Mississauga; son,
Brian (Pat), Halifax; grandchildren, Jay (Shannon) and Phillip
Redmond; Patrick, Robyn and Allyson Dooley and Kimberly Maier; Peter,
Erin and Eileen Redmond; great grandchildren, Hunter Redmond. He was
predeceased by brothers, Ralph, Howard; sisters, Murial Watt, Florence
MacMillian, Viola MacLenllan and Mabel in infancy. Visitation will be
7-9 p.m. today in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Funeral
will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Lung Association,
Canadian Diabetis Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of
Nova Scotia.

Text: ERIC ELMER BEZANSON - 58 - New Waterford - Eric Elmer Bezanson, of New
Waterford, died in an automobile accident on Tuesday January 4, 2005. Born
in New Waterford, he was the son of Weldon Bezanson and the late Stephanie
(Podgurski) Bezanson. Surviving are three sisters Mary (the late Billy) White of New Waterford, Doreen (Paul) MacEwan of Lingan, and Kathleen (Raymond) Thomas of Sydney, one brother Peter of Glace Bay and also nieces and nephews. Eric was a former miner who loved talking, singing and mixing with friends. His special love was country music. He will always be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. Visitation will take place at McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Avenue, New Waterford o Friday January 7, 2005 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday January 8, 2005 at 2 pm in All Saints Church, New Waterford, with butial in the parish cemetery with Rev. Stacey Renouf officiating.
