Text:   Fritze, Ruth Alexandra - 84, Halifax, passed away October 7, 2001, in Melville Lodge. Born in Dominion, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (MacLeod) Campbell. She graduated from Sydney Academy and later she attended Nova Scotia Teacher's College. Ruth was a teacher in Mahone Bay and Dominion. She later was principal at Mahone Bay School and worked as a librarian at Saint Mary's University. She had great interest in the Elder Learners Program, Halifax. She was a member of the United Church of Canada. Surviving are sons, Garth; Calgary, Alta.; Thane (Maureen), N.S.; sister-in-law, Ethel Campbell, Dominion. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by brothers, John Hughie, Roy Campbell; sisters, Katie Campbell; Mildred MacNeil. Cremation has take place. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, October 18, in J. Walker Funeral Home, 149 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax, Rev. Kevin Little officiating. Burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

Text:   MacDOUGALL, Mary Agnes - 4227 Ellsworth Ave., New Waterford, died October 24, 1999, in the New Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in New Waterford in 1927, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Mary (LeBlanc) Reid. Surviving are sons, David, Saskatchewan; Gil; New Waterford; daughters, Mary Desveaux, Gail MacDougall; New Waterford; eight grandchildren; sister, Pearl, Ontario; stepsister, Mary, New Waterford. She was predeceased by her husband, Charlie in 1985; sister, Alice; brother, Charlie; stepfather, Bill Owens; one brother and one sister in infancy. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, in V.J. MacGillivray Funeral Home, Smith Street, New Waterford. There will be a celebration of her life, 10 a.m. Wednesday, in St. Agnes Church, New Waterford, Rev. Robert Neville officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the DePaul Centre, Mount St. Vincent University, 150 Bedford Highway, Halifax, NS, B3M 3J5.

Text:   Dr, Otto F. Fritze Lunenburg - Doctor Otto F. Fritze, 65, of Lunenburg, died Wednesday in Saint John. Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late A.E.L. and Matilda (Jodrey) Fritze. he was a graduate of Acadia University and attended Harvard University and the University of Edmonton, later receiving his doctoral degree in education. He taught in several schools and colleges including Quenn Elizabeth High School, Halifax; Acadia University; the Nova Scotia Teachers
College, Truro; University of Edmonton; and in Victoria, B.C. Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Campbell of Dominion, Cape Breton; two sons, Garth and Thane, both of Saint John; a sister, Mrs. Lorimer Palmer, Morristown; two brothers, Rev. Carroll O.R., Whitehall, Penn; A.L. Victor, Lunenburg. The body is at Sweeny Funeral Hom, Lunenburg. Funeral service will be held 2:30 p.mm. Saturday at Zion Lutherian Church. Rev. James Slack officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery

Text:   A wide circle of friends and acquaintances in Sydney and in the surrounding centers will learn with deep regret of the news of the death of Mrs. Dan Smith, Inglis Street, which occurred Sunday morning in the City Hospital. She had been ill for the past two months and her passing will be widely mourned. She was in her 83rd year and lived in Sydney for the past 30 years. Surviving are her husband, one son Wilfred, three daughters, Mrs. Jack Bowden (Irene) of Revere, Mass., who is now in the city; Mrs. Alex Kokoski (Ethel) also in this city. A daughter Isabel died several months ago. Two sisters, Mrs. D. J. Ferguson and Mrs. Alex MacLean and one brother, Hector MacKenzie, all residing in Glace Bay, also survive. The deceased was a member of the George and Brookland Street Presbyterian Church, and the funeral will be held from her late residence Tuesday afternoon, with interment in Hardwood Hill cemetery.
