Looking for a taste of Nova Scotia's Scottish culture as entertainment for your group or function? Amethyst Scottish Dancers of Nova Scotia was founded in 1985 as an outlet for dancers to share their joy of the art of highland dancing. A stepdance troupe was addded in 2007. Over the course of the group's history, dancers have entertained Royalty, cruise ship passengers and thousands of others at conventions and other public performances both at home and abroad, most recently in Dubai in 2008 and California in 2009. All dancers are highly trained and accomplished Highland and step dancers.
All dancers are highly trained and accomplished Highland and step dancers. The troupe is made up of about 30 dancers from 9 to 25 years of age. A typical 20-30 minute Amethyst performance includes both traditional Scottish Highland and National dances and several modern choreographed highland and stepdance numbers depicting the people and traditions of Nova Scotia. Audiences are treated to lively music, exciting dancing and colourful costumes. Our dancers proudly wear outfits of Dress Nova Scotia tartan, often referred to as our trademark. |
