It is important to include references to the sources from which you obtained information for your research assignments.  A bibliography or list of works consulted is generally included at the end of your research assignment.  That is the list of books, Internet sites (URL's), magazines and other sources from which you obtained information.  If there are certain phrases, sentences,or paragraphs that you wish to copy word for word, the original author of this information must be given credit for these original thoughts.  This is done in your footnotes at the bottom of the page or, more preferably, endnotes at the end of the research paper.  There are a number of style manuals whish show the exact way in which these references are to be written.  Different subjects and different teachers have preferences for particular style manual.  Find out which style manual your teacher expects you to use.
