Welcome to the ZORCH! page. What is it about?, ZORCH! is the culmination of several years work teaching Game Mechanics to Electronic Game Design student. Darren and I wanted to explain what sorts of processes and structures underpin a game and so we built one as an illustration. Man hours of design classes, playtesting and balancing occured and ZORCH! is what ultimately resulted.

For many students ZORCH! was thier first experience of a paper based wargame or simulation, and they really enjoyed playing it, so we decided to make it available to all. While this is a complete system, it is constantly being revised and modified, so any suggestions you may have would be more than welcome. Games needn't stagnate and I like tothink that the overall flexibility of ZORCH! helps with this process.

ZORCH is a multi-player tabletop wargame thats optimised for use in either contemporary or Sci-Fi games. We have tested it using Napoleonic era units, and while it works, its real emphasis is on armoured warfare. We use miniatures and geohex terrain, but it can easily adapted to a hex based system, in many ways its designed to be played with and tweaked to adapt to your particular requirements.. so without further ado, go ahead and peruse the rules.

This game has been unavailable for about a year due to a change in jobs, but I'm now able to put a temporary printable web version online. You should note that you need to make the orders cards yourselves

Incidentally, if you're wondering about the name, my Wife suggested it after I told her that one of our students shouted ZORCH!!!! whenever his laser equiped tanks took out an opponent and besides, its such a cool sound!
