Class 40

The class 40s were starting to be withdrawn when I was most active spotting in the early 80s. As such they were much in demand for railtours and I was lucky enough to have 40 haulage on the Skirl 'O the Pipes II. This feature was made even more attractive as these locomotives took the train over the famous Settle and Carlisle route which at the time was under serious threat of closure.
