
Pulp chips are the fiber ingredient used in the pulp
and paper industry. Depending upon whether a mill is producing a
paper or a cardboard product, will determine what species and size
of pulp chip is required.
Pulp chips can be produced from either a hardwood or softwood
species.
The following are quality specifications
from one of the producing mills:
- Not more than 5% of the chips shall
remain on a screen with holes measuring a diameter of
28.6mm

- Not less than 92% of the chips
shall go through a screen with holes measuring a
diameter of 28.6mm, and remain a screen with holes
measuring a diameter of 4.8mm
|
- Not more than 3% of the chips shall
go through a screen with holes measuring a diameter of
4.8mm
|
- Not less than 55% of the chips
shall have diameters between 9.5mm to 22.2mm
|

- Wood Density: 0.90 to 0.92
|
- Chips will be substantially free of
bark, rot, char, plastic, vinyl, metal, pebbles,
stones and any other foreign materials, in keeping
with industry practice.

Modifications:
Consideration will be given to a bona fide long term customer, to
amend the setting on the chipper to meet their required standards.
Fumigation:

and when required of the importing country, the proper
certifications will be issued. |

Originating in North America, softwood
pulp chips would be produced from such species as spruce, fir and
pine. For hardwood, chips are sourced from birch and maple.
Originating in South America, CCI Group Inc. focuses on producing
pulp chips from the Eucalyptus tree, which is renowned for its
accelerated growing speed from seedling to tree maturity.

The product is moved either by a vessel
that is a designated a primary wood chip vessel with a self unloader,
or, a bulk carrier with fixed gear to unload the cargo.
