Whole tree chips are generally 8 cm and larger in
length depending on the chipper settings. Branches and bark pieces
can range in size, and are less uniform in size and proportion
compared to actual wood chips.
Tub grinders produce a material that is in the form of long, sinuous
fibers. Again, size and proportion are determined by the cutting
set-up of the particular grinding machine being utilized.
An average vessel load of biomass contains moisture content ranging
between 25% – 45%. The moisture content percentage is dependent on
several factors including the age and type of biomass, the method of
extraction utilized, and the location of the facility it comes from,
be it North or South America.
