Biomass may contain both hardwood and
softwood material, utilizing a variety of tree species.
Due to international import regulations, some countries may require
softwood fiber to be fumigated as an additional measure. To
accommodate these country-specific import regulations, hardwood and
softwood material is source-separated, often at the place of
material extraction.
